This is My Story
My name is Temesha (Daria’s Mom). I am a businesswoman and single mother. Baking has been a passion of mine long before now. It was about 20 years ago when I made a cheesecake for a coworker, and other coworkers noticed and began ordering from me. Soon I had a small business where I would sell cheesecakes and other desserts to people in my community.
Today I am hoping to grow my business even further through this website. I am not the only woman in my family who decided to use her talents to build a small business in her local community; both my grandmothers were using their skills to provide for their families in a time that allowed limited opportunities for African American women. On my mother’s side my grandmother cooked and ran a small business where she fed hungry train porters as they came into town, and my mother helped her. My paternal grandmother was known all over her town in Texas for her delicious pies, cakes, and tamales. Her recipes are special, and some of the techniques are used in my cooking.
These women have shaped me into who I am today. I will continue to honor their legacy and pass down my own legacy to my daughter Daria. Daria is a miracle child and she has been my inspiration for me to pursue my dreams as an entrepreneur. With help from my family, my friends, and my church community I have chosen to pursue my passion through baking and cooking for others.
